Former Australian player Brad Haddin has given valuable advice to all-rounder Cameron Green. He suggested that the lanky cricketer needs to make some sacrifices to retain the top spot in Test cricket. Cameron Greene is one of the best things to happen to Australia in Test cricket. His presence has allowed the team led by Pat Cummins to find the perfect balance and combination. It is fair to say that he has played a key role in the team's success of late.
Cameron Greene has contributed equally well with bat and ball in Test cricket. The all-rounder is being touted as the next big thing in Australian cricket but the cricket he plays is one thing. Apart from Australian cricket, Cameron Green plays in IPL. He played in IPL 2023 and has now been traded to Royal Challengers Bangalore, which was the highest trade in the history of the league. He will earn 17.5 crores.
Brad Haddin said Cameron Green should look at Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc, who quit the IPL to prioritize Test cricket. He admitted that the IPL is a lot to learn but needs to manage his workload to reach the top. Speaking to Fox Cricket, he explained:
“If you look at the three fast bowlers (Cummins, Hazlewood, Starc) they have had periods where they have sat out the IPL and prioritized Test cricket and that may have to be done by Cameron Green at times depending on his workload. I know IPL is the best way to continue learning, but if the workload becomes too much, he will have to make some sacrifices to stay on top of Test cricket.
He's still just a youngster finding his feet at international level - Brad Haddin on Cameron Green
Brad Haddin further said that playing in England and India was the best part of Cameron Green's career. He added that he is young in international cricket and still has to learn. He added: “If you look at his short career till date, I don't think he will get as tough a period as he has in the last 6-7 months. I think he spent the best part of six months away from home. “He is still just a youngster finding his feet at the international level. He would now have a good chance to sit down and think it over. Cameron Green will next be seen in action when Australia take on Pakistan in the Test series starting on December 14.
